My name is Claire and I've gone from being a self-published indie author to professional book editor and book coach within two years. ​

One day I found myself as a stay-home-mom and an idea for a novel hit me in a way that I couldn't escape it.

 

I woke up at 5am with a fire inside me to write out this idea into a story. This is something I've been wanting to pursue my entire life.

I started writing with a fire inside me. I romanticized the idea of writing this book and publishing it.

 

Would an agent pick it up and shop it around? Would I self-publish it?

 

Guess what happened? Nothing. I got stuck in the editing process.

 

I didn’t have a plan to go through the manuscript on my own. I didn’t know what type of editing I needed. I didn’t know how to self-publish, not to mention marketing the book.

 

I didn't know what I didn't know. 
 

I took the long route, teaching myself everything from how to self-edit, to getting feedback on query letters, what a good author platform looked like and, by the way, I needed to come up with a content strategy plan for my author social media.

You don’t have to be like me and spend precious time combing through podcasts and webinars to figure out the latest in publishing and which advice to follow.

There is a better way.

 

From my own experience writing and self-publishing a book and working with other authors experiencing the same, I created my four phase process.
